The Wellesley Housing Authority administers state-supported affordable housing programs for low-income families and elderly and disabled households. State Public Housing:

Public housing aims to provide safe and comfortable rental housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. Public housing includes apartments owned and managed by public housing authorities. Public housing is low-rent housing for eligible families, the elderly, and people with disabilities who meet the income guidelines and eligibility qualifications.

There are two types of public housing programs available to low-income households looking for state-subsidized housing assistance:

1 )Elderly/Disabled Public Housing

The WHA manages four (4) state developments for elderly/disabled residents: Morton Circle (36 Units), Washington Street (40 Units), River Street (26 Units), and Weston Road (32 Units)

2) Family Public Housing

The WHA manages two (2) state developments: Barton Road (88 Units) and Linden Street (12 Units)

Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program (Leased Housing)

The Dedham Housing Authority (781)326-3543 administers the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program for Wellesley Housing Authority, providing housing assistance to low-income renters.

Participants in this program rent private apartments in the community and receive financial assistance from the HCV program to pay a portion of the rent. The participant usually pays 30-40% of their monthly income towards the rent. They may have to pay for some utilities.
