Are reservations required at Enchanted Rock?

No, but advanced reservations are highly encouraged. Reservations are required for day passes and overnight stays are required on weekends, school breaks and holidays. While not required on regular weekdays, Enchanted Rock usually reaches capacity every day. To guarantee entrance reserve passes online, or by calling the customer service center, before you visit.

Is there overnight camping at Enchanted Rock?

Yes. There are a total of 55 campsites at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, including 35 campsites with water and 20 primitive campsites.

With 8.4 miles of hiking trails, Enchanted Rock State Natural Area features opportunities to explore from 30 minutes up to multiple days. The most popular hike, the Summit Trail, is just over a mile and a half round trip but features an elevation change of 425-feet, providing scenic views of the Texas Hill Country.

Is Enchanted Rock pet-friendly?

Yes, but to protect the ecosystem of Enchanted Rock, pets are only allowed in the designated picnic areas, the campgrounds, and on the Loop Trail. Pets are not permitted on the Summit Trail leading to Enchanted Rock’s highest dome, or any of the seven peaks of the granite uplift.

Is climbing Enchanted Rock hard?

Enchanted Rock offers a variety of trails from beginner to advanced. Comfortable walking shoes are a must, while hiking attire is recommended. Visitors should bring plenty of water to stay hydrated while hiking, especially in summer months.

Admission to Enchanted Rock State Natural Area is $8 per vehicle. Reservations can be made up to 30 days in advance and are recommended as the park reaches capacity during peak times.
